Demonic Cupid

Her contact was felt with friction Sandpaper rubbing my chest Scraping off my dead skin Grinding on my rib cage The debris falling like the collapse 0n 9/11 Making my foundation weak So I Fall She’s sly, every movement is art Vivid in detail Captivating spectators Burning torch Olympic summer Throwing javelins through my heart Slicing my legs and arms Decapitating my head Whole man cut up Wrapping me in plastic And Freezing me Then Thawing me Using tree branches and two by fours To hang me Shish kabobs   Dangling from the fire Rotisserie Fully seasoned my mental Making me submissive to her desires Claiming her honesty With mystery For I was a delicacy Chewed on and swallowed Washed down with grey goose Digested and dropped in the toilet Flushed away Treated me like what I feel like SHIT By Wakime Sharri Hauser

FORKS

We all have heard the expression by Yogi Berra “when you come to a fork in the road, take it”. Have you ever thought about the number of forks that you have come to in your life? I spent countless hours reliving my past. Wishing I made a different decision. These hours accumulated into days, months and even years. Thinking about what I could have done differently led me into a deep unconscious depression. I was living in the present physically while my mind and soul were in the past. Now I do not live in the past, nor doI live in the future. I live in the moment. I am finally finding peace. Since birth we are faced with hundreds if not thousands of forks a day. Forks referring to choices or decisions. What I wear, what I eat are small forks. Bigger forks would include, should be friends with this person or that person. What I’m doing this weekend. To the gigantic decisions: should I marry him or her, what college should I go to, where do I want to live. These are all forks that we deal with every day. I believe each person throughout their lives will,...

Perception Shift

Perception Shift I was having quite a day! Allow me to elaborate. On my way to North Carolina to visit my father and sister, whom I haven’t seen and haven’t been on good terms with, I encountered a problem. As I walked away from the car, I realized I didn’t have my phone. I distinctly remembered leaving it in the car, so it must have slipped out of my pocket and been picked up by a bystander who took it along. I tracked it to New York, then New Jersey, and down the coast. I gathered my old phone and prepared for my journey. I even changed my flight and ended up with a window seat, which I rarely choose. Things seemed to be going well until a taller gentleman was in the aisle seat when I arrived, leaving me with the window seat. But wait, could my luck improve further? It did when the middle seat remained vacant! Then, a cheerful, larger man arrived, and he pointed to the seat. In my head, I thought, “WTF.” He was smiling and appeared to be the happiest middle-aged man on the plane. As he struggled to get situated in his seat,,...

MLK

This week marks the celebration of the birthday and federal holiday for Martin Luther King Jr., officially designated on November 2, 1983, when President Ronald Reagan signed the bill into law. Reflecting on my childhood, I remember eagerly anticipating this holiday for the simple joy of having a day off from school. However, as I matured, I delved deeper into understanding the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. through books and documentaries, gaining insights into the complexities surrounding this iconic figure. While acknowledging the greatness of MLK, I must admit that my personal hero is my grandfather, Harold Hauser. This doesn’t diminish MLK’s significance, but it prompts an interesting question: Who were Martin Luther King Jr.’s heroes? A key influence on him was Benjamin Mays, a mentor whose impact might not be widely known but played a pivotal role in shaping MLK’s ideals. Two aspects of MLK that I particularly admire are his unwavering bravery and his mission to unite people. Living under constant threat, he fearlessly led a movement aimed at breaking down racial barriers. Reflecting on his life, I believe MLK’s success lay in his commitment to uniting the nation across racial lines. Racism is learned, not inherent.,...
