2023 will be great because…

This is the point where NEW YEARS resolution’s no longer are talked about!

Happy new year! So often people hold off being amazing for days or months, waiting for a certain day or opportunity. Waiting is time wasted. That’s time you will never get back. There are occasions when we need to wait for a certain time. For example, you need to learn more about something, you have a surgery coming up, or you are recovering. In the fitness industry when someone tells me they want to wait for this day, they want to get ready for a wedding or vacation, or they do not have the time or money, I smile. My insides fill with emotions that rage and I use them in my next workout. Why? Why do I fill up with rage? I believe those are all the wrong reasons to get healthy or fit. I believe you get healthy or fit for life. My motivation is that I want to live forever. Right now, that is what I really want! So everything I do is fueled by eternal life. I am not perfect and I still have many variables to work on to be who I want to be. Yet, I still focus on living forever. For me, that means not being dependent on walkers, canes and medicine as I hit my later years. So I walk, run, strength train, sleep, stretch, meditate, love, pray, drink very little, and eat a minimum of sugar and foods that lead to health issues. Yes I could get in an accident and die. I could still get sick and yes something unexpected could take my life. All of those are out of my control. I can and will control what I can control. That’s all I can and will do.

Back to 2023 being your year. That is funny to me. How could that be possible? Let me ask you this before I continue. Did you graduate high school because of your senior year? Let that soak in and take a few minutes and really think about why you graduated high school. What are your reasons? Mine are I graduated high school because of what I did from birth up until 11th grade. Most of us graduated high school unofficially before the school year even ended. Most of you I should say. I barely graduated high school. Each year prior to the next built up and then after 12 or 13 years we graduated. It just so happens that it happens during our senior year so we associate graduating with being a senior and forget about how we REALLY were able to graduate. If you begin to break these simple yet forgotten concepts to daily living the world you live in would change, and change for the better.
The phrase “live in the moment”, is overused and detrimental to your long and short term success. Nothing is ever created in one isolated moment. Why would one want to live in the moment? It’s great for the party goer, and the individual who is currently lost in life and is trying to have a positive mantra. Living in the moment means you are in a stagnant position. Enjoying the moment has its place in life. Watching your child be born, getting married, playing sports, playing in bands in arenas, ETC. That place does not result in optimal future success. Even for the great music band the moment would be playing in a sold out Madison Square Garden. However the many moments of practice and rehearsal that lead up to that event would be the reason WHY the band was sold out at MSG.

Now with all of that information, think about this year. Year 2023, your year! This will be your year if you have fulfilled your obligations in prior years. Yes, in 2023, you will graduate from Harvard, if you did what you needed to do in 2022, 2021 and 2020 respectively. On a personal level 2023 will be a great year for me because the last 5 years I have taken the time to learn, make mistakes and survive having a business in the fitness industry. I am more knowledgeable, more humble and more prepared than ever. In 2023 the expectations are higher, and the challenge is more difficult due to the struggling economic state our country is in. However, I believe this will be the best year ever in business. That is not because 2023 is our year at Workout Harder Fitness. It’s because we have been putting in the work for a few years learning with each challenge. What we do in our past is the reason we achieve in the future.

Here is a plan for you to use in the future. Establish what you want in 2024, 2025 and 2026. Now identify what you would need to do in 2023 in order to help you get there. I want to start speaking at schools, businesses and other venues. So this year I will start asking coaches I know if I could speak to their teams. I will start writing letters to schools I would like to speak out about that I have connections at. I will offer this service during 2023 for free. I will post a blog once a week on a variety of self-development topics and habits that create high performance. I also will continue to read 10 plus pages a day, workout daily, continue to build my/our businesses, volunteer, spend time with my friends and family, travel, pray daily, publish my first book and stay humble and hungry. When I begin getting speaking engagement offers in 2024 and beyond it will be because of what I started to do in 2023. FYI, my first speaking engagement is approaching soon! I am excited.

It’s your turn. Start moving toward your future goals with action. You can do it. It wont go as planned, you will be challenged, you will want to quit, and you will be better in every way even if you do not accomplish your goal. I do not know anyone who was mad at improving themselves. Will you be the first to say “ I got better and I don’t like it”. I do not think so!

Thank you for taking the time to read this. If you think this will benefit someone please share it with them.

Thank you and attack your day!
