AMERICA, Is like ME!

America is flawed Just like me It has made many unforgettable mistakes God blessed America And Forgave me for my sins America is strong Just like me This country fought to be free War after war Internally and externally As I have battled my own personal Demons And societal expectations America is weak Just like me Greed and hate penetrate its liberty As the pain of my mistakes Rains on my melon cheeks America did not choose me Nor did I choose America It was founded on evil mixed with righteousness As I was created on narcotics and holy water I love America Just like I love myself The good the bad and the indifferent This is my home Like me It will ALWAYS be a work in progress For ALL BY WAKIME SHARRI HAUSER

PLAN A

Plan B. What does that really mean? Does it mean you’re not fully confident in your Plan A? Does it mean you’re playing it safe? I wrestled with that for years. And when I say wrestled, I’m talking about a full-on, no-holds-barred, steel cage match with myself about what commitment really looks like. Back in the day, basketball was my first love. But I never made it my Plan A. It was just one of the things I liked to do. One of many. And when you’re splitting your focus, you don’t get what you say you want. You get what you worked for—what you fully commit to. Now? I’m the owner of Workout Harder Fitness. I’m a teacher. I drive Uber. I’m the CEO of a nonprofit that’s changing lives in my community. Don’t get it twisted—this isn’t about having Plan B, C, and D lined up because I don’t believe in myself. I do all these things because I’m built for it. But when it comes to Workout Harder Fitness, there is no Plan B. That’s my Plan A. That’s my purpose. That’s the thing I’ve thrown my entire life into because it’s bigger than just me. When,...

Bumpsy

Bumpsy, that is his name.  Who is that?  The man who showed me everything in life that I shouldn’t be, yet I wanted to become.  The man who hurt me over and over again.  The man who my sisters called Bumpsy.  Bumpsy is/was my father.   In the Winter of 2021, I forgave my dad and accepted his role in my life.  He is the man who my sister and all his friends (none to date I trust) call Bumpsy.  I could never call him that.  I called him dad because that is who I wanted him too always be.  It was not to the age of 41 that I realized what a father was.  That is when I began a relationship with my first-born son.  His presence forced me to be a father figure.  It was not hard, I just told him the truth, good, bad and or neutral. At the age of 49 I am finally confident enough to be a good father.  I am also smart enough not to try to make up for my prior shortcomings as a father in the past.  I am here for my children now.  I don’t baby them and I do not,...

Hated or loved no in between

When I first looked at this picture, I thought it seemed very simplistic, but then I began to shake my head in realization. All of these individuals were not only immensely popular but also deeply divisive. This combination of admiration and animosity is what made them powerful. Take Abraham Lincoln, for example. He is celebrated for emancipating the slaves, a monumental and progressive step in American history. However, this decision was highly controversial at the time, leading to significant opposition and even hatred from those who disagreed with his policies. Lincoln’s leadership during the Civil War and his push for the Thirteenth Amendment made him a beacon of freedom and justice, but also a target of immense scorn and hostility. John F. Kennedy (JFK) is another figure who exemplifies this duality. He is often regarded as one of the most popular presidents, known for his charisma and progressive vision. His advocacy for civil rights and support for minorities endeared him to many, but also incited fierce resistance from those who opposed his inclusive policies. Kennedy’s assassination underscores the intensity of the emotions he stirred. Martin Luther King Jr. stands out as the most renowned Black American in history, revered for,...
