Growth is on YOU!!!

What’s up beautiful people! Today, I want to share with you something deeply personal yet profoundly impactful: the importance of having high expectations and structure in life. These principles have been the bedrock of my journey—a journey marked by challenges, growth, and ultimately, redemption. From a young age, I was blessed with grandparents and parents who instilled in me a strong foundation. They weren’t perfect; in fact, there were moments when their actions fell short of the standards they set. However, what they never compromised on were their expectations for me. They believed in my potential, even when I faltered. I must admit, I’ve had my share of struggles. I’ve been arrested 11 times, a fact that many find shocking given my current path. Each time I stumbled, it was the strength of that foundational upbringing that pulled me back. The structure they provided—clear boundaries, discipline, and unwavering belief in doing what’s right—acted as my guiding light in the darkest of times. You see, having high expectations doesn’t mean a life free from mistakes or challenges. It means having a compass that always points true north, even when the storms rage. It means knowing that there is a standard to,...

Christmas Reflection

Christmas has been many things to me over the course of my life, each chapter defined by where I was, who I was, and what I believed. It’s not just a holiday—it’s a mirror reflecting the seasons of my soul. As a child in a Lutheran school, Christmas was pure, untouchable, holy. It was about Christ in the manger, the shepherds guided by the star, and the profound meaning of a Savior’s birth. I remember the hymns, the Nativity plays, the sermons that made the story of Jesus come alive. It wasn’t about gifts—it was about grace, about the miracle of light piercing through darkness. Back then, my Christmases felt like an unbroken connection to something bigger than myself. I sang joy to the world at a catholic church this past weekend and it bought back so many memories. That connection faded when I transitioned to public school in the fifth grade. Suddenly, Christmas became about getting the gifts—the thrill of unwrapping boxes stacked under the tree, the joy of waking up early and tearing through wrapping paper like there was treasure hidden inside. I won’t lie; there was magic in that, too. But it was a different magic, one,...

Failed Starts

The notion of New Year, Monday, next month, or after my birthday often serves as a delaying tactic for embarking on new, challenging endeavors. The allure of fresh starts is compelling, especially when the concept of a clean slate is ingrained in our culture. However, true change doesn’t need a specific date; the time is always now. It should always be now! There’s no valid reason to postpone the commencement of a journey. Those who procrastinate risk being left behind, often finding convenient excuses for their current life situation—commonly citing reasons like kids, jobs, time, or money. As a gym owner, I’ve encountered countless individuals who declare specific dates to kickstart their fitness program, only to fade into silence. Many talk themselves out of taking the necessary steps. Money and time become the top excuses, particularly when faced with the prospect of committing to a gym that demands accountability. Opting for the allure of a big box gym with a cheap monthly membership fee allows for sporadic attendance and a false sense of accomplishment. Unlike the impersonal environment of larger gyms where your name may go unnoticed, small box gyms like mine prioritize personal connection. We call our members to,...

It was just EMAIL

The internet has permeated every aspect of our lives, evolving from a mere tool to a ubiquitous force shaping our daily existence. In its nascent stage, I recall engaging with primitive platforms like email, Myspace, and Yahoo/AOL chats. Amazon and eBay were confined to selling books and facilitating shopping, yet even then, the digital landscape was rife with bots and explicit content. In 2008, I took my first plunge into the social media realm via Facebook on my mobile device, marking a paradigm shift. Today, it’s commonplace to witness individuals perpetually glued to their phones, with toddlers replacing books with iPads. Our world has become an intricate web, and many find themselves entangled, unable to envision life without their cell phones. Reflecting on the early 1990s, I nostalgically recall exchanging letters with a woman from Germany, waiting eagerly for responses that took up to 14 days. Communication was an art, and the joy of receiving a letter was unparalleled. International calls were a luxury due to exorbitant costs, leading to the prevalence of written correspondence. Fast forward to the present, where a $100 monthly investment grants access to a plethora of services through a handheld device—talks, texts, videos, shopping, food,...

Past Present Future

Where do you reside in the vast expanse of time? Are you lost in the tumultuous waters of past mistakes, struggling against the currents of regret? Or perhaps you find yourself casting your gaze forward, envisioning a future filled with triumphs in finance, society, and athleticism. Yet, there’s another realm – the present moment – where tranquility awaits. Do you recognize where you stand? Are you aware of how the ghosts of your past transgressions may be undermining your future? It’s plausible that you’re so fixated on the horizon that you fail to seize the opportunities unfolding in the now. Or maybe you’re fully immersed in the present, leveraging past setbacks as stepping stones, trusting the process to create a path toward the future of your dreams. Welcome to the matrix of existence, where the echoes of yesteryears reverberate through our present, while we strive to chart a course for the tomorrows yet to unfold. My journey through life has been a tapestry woven with invaluable lessons, each accompanied by its own scar – some fading with time, while others lingered long after the wounds had ostensibly healed. Despite the passage of time, the shadows of my darkest moments remained,...
