Showing up for???

There’s something I’ve been reflecting on deeply this week—showing up. Whether it’s in the gym, at family events, or in life’s daily battles, the truth is simple: consistency is key. But not everyone gets it, do they? Some people expect you to always be there for them, yet they never show up for you. It’s frustrating, but here’s the kicker—I’m not surprised. Why? Because I’ve learned that in my journey there will be supporters and non-supporters

Discipline Over Everything

In the gym and in life, it’s discipline that separates those who succeed from those who make excuses. We all know what we need to do—wake up earlier, put in the work, eat right—but knowing doesn’t get us results, doing does. That’s why I started my “Discipline Diaries” series on Instagram. Every Monday, I drop a reel to remind you that execution is everything. Don’t just think about your DREAMS, don’t just talk about them—get up and chase them.

It’s the same with fitness. Whether it’s the 5-day challenge or the 8-week program at Workout Harder Fitness Fitness, the people who succeed are the ones who show up every day, no matter how tired they are, no matter how tempting that snooze button is. And trust me, I get it—sticking to a 1650-calorie, high-protein diet can be challenging. But that’s the sacrifice it takes to achieve real results. And for me, that goal weight of 180 lbs? I’m getting there by showing up for myself, every single day.

Support Systems & Accountability

One of the most eye-opening lessons I’ve learned through my own journey is the importance of support systems. But let me be clear—support isn’t just about who’s cheering you on. It’s also about holding yourself accountable. It’s easy to point fingers when things don’t go your way, but real growth happens when you take responsibility for your own actions.

That’s what the “Branches of Manhood” leadership program is all about—helping young boys recognize their potential and step into roles of responsibility. They learn to show up for themselves and for others. This sense of accountability is a powerful tool, not just for them but for all of us. When you build a foundation of self-discipline and community support, you create a life of purpose and growth.

But let’s talk about something that’s been on my mind lately—those who expect support without ever offering it back. You know the type. They’ll be the first to complain when you don’t show up for their events, but where were they when you needed them? I’ve got some people in my life like that. And while it used to bother me, I’ve realized that my focus is on getting better for me—not for anyone else. Their absence won’t stop my progress. The only thing that can stop me is me.

Building Community, Not Just Followers

At the core of everything I do—whether it’s the Men of Color Hike, the Worship Workout, or our manhood yoga events—is the idea of building community. It’s not about having a large crowd; it’s about having the right people around you. People who are invested in the same growth mindset. People who know that success doesn’t happen in a vacuum. It’s earned through dedication and hard work, but also through collective effort and support.

In my nonprofit work with ‘Fitness Awareness for All Ages,’ we strive to bring that sense of holistic health to everyone. From children to veterans, from minority men to those in recovery, our goal is to empower individuals to take charge of their mental and physical health. Because at the end of the day, the biggest battle is often fought within our own minds.

The Road Ahead

The truth is, there will always be distractions. There will always be people who don’t show up.
