Your super hero is within YOU!
Personal excellence is the ultimate rebellion! Become the best version of yourself. Stop wasting your time finding excuses for why you aren’t where you want to be in life. I blame me. Who do you blame?
We live in a world, especially in the USA, where we depend so much on others. We depend on electricity, running water, grocery stores, and hundreds of other dependent variables that have been created over time. We are so dependent on these elements of life that we think we cannot survive without them. A few years ago, one of my student’s parents told me that her child needed to bring his phone to school because it was the only way she could contact him if she needed him. I was speechless. She was correct in her mind about needing to contact her son. The school does have a phone system, and if her child was supposed to be in school and she needed to contact him, she could call the school. However, technology has created a more convenient system, and society has forgotten how to function without it. I graduated from high school and college without a cell phone. Now, the opposite is true. Students enter high school attached to their smartphones, becoming, in my opinion, less capable of critical thinking and self-reliance.
When I was a child, I had the opportunity to listen to my grandparents’ stories undividedly. They told stories of no running water or floors in their homes and of walking miles a day because no one owned a car. These stories provided me with the history I needed to understand that many of the technologies I have today are not necessities but luxuries and privileges. Yet, we find ourselves attached to computers and cell phones instead of to each other. This dependency has allowed us to be manipulated once again as people. Much like not knowing the language, then not being able to read, then only teaching what is beneficial to the system and not the truth, the cycle is repeating with the use of the internet and technology.
For years, I pointed fingers at everyone but myself. I blamed circumstances, other people, and the system for my lack of progress. There was no growth in my life for 15 years because I refused to take accountability. I lived in a bubble of excuses, shielding myself from the harsh truth that I was the architect of my stagnation. It wasn’t until I took a hard look in the mirror and accepted responsibility for my actions and choices that my life began to change. In less than 15 years, I experienced more growth and success than in all the previous years combined.
Becoming your own superhero means embracing personal responsibility and taking control of your destiny. It means acknowledging your mistakes, learning from them, and using them as stepping stones to your success. It means understanding that while technology and modern conveniences can make life easier, they should not become crutches that prevent us from developing resilience, self-discipline, and critical thinking.
Imagine a life where you are the hero of your own story, where you take charge of your actions and decisions, and where you no longer rely on external factors to dictate your happiness and success. This shift in mindset requires courage and persistence, but the rewards are immeasurable. You will discover strengths you never knew you had, and you will achieve goals you once thought were out of reach.
In our fast-paced, technology-driven world, it’s easy to lose sight of what truly matters. We need to reconnect with ourselves and each other, valuing human interaction and personal growth over digital distractions. By doing so, we can break free from the chains of dependency and become the best versions of ourselves.
So, stop wasting time making excuses. Embrace the power within you to shape your future. Hold yourself accountable and take responsibility for your life. I did, and the transformation has been incredible. Who do you blame for your circumstances? It’s time to turn the finger inward and realize that you have the power to change your life. Be your own superhero, and watch how the world changes around you.
