Growth is on YOU!!!

What’s up beautiful people! Today, I want to share with you something deeply personal yet profoundly impactful: the importance of having high expectations and structure in life. These principles have been the bedrock of my journey—a journey marked by challenges, growth, and ultimately, redemption.

From a young age, I was blessed with grandparents and parents who instilled in me a strong foundation. They weren’t perfect; in fact, there were moments when their actions fell short of the standards they set. However, what they never compromised on were their expectations for me. They believed in my potential, even when I faltered.

I must admit, I’ve had my share of struggles. I’ve been arrested 11 times, a fact that many find shocking given my current path. Each time I stumbled, it was the strength of that foundational upbringing that pulled me back. The structure they provided—clear boundaries, discipline, and unwavering belief in doing what’s right—acted as my guiding light in the darkest of times.

You see, having high expectations doesn’t mean a life free from mistakes or challenges. It means having a compass that always points true north, even when the storms rage. It means knowing that there is a standard to uphold, not just for others, but for oneself.

When I hit rock bottom, it was this structure that allowed me to recover and grow. It gave me the resilience to pick myself up, learn from my mistakes, and strive to be better each day. At the age of 51, I stand here not as a finished product, but as someone who understands that growth is a lifelong journey.

For those of you who may be facing challenges or striving for something more, I urge you to consider the role of high expectations and structure in your own life. Whether you’re a student, a parent, an entrepreneur, or someone navigating personal struggles, clarity of purpose and a framework for decision-making can make all the difference. Setting high expectations isn’t about perfectionism; it’s about striving for excellence. It’s about pushing beyond your comfort zone and embracing growth. It’s about holding yourself accountable to a standard that reflects your true potential.

Structure provides the scaffolding upon which your aspirations can take shape. It fosters discipline, consistency, and resilience—the very qualities that empower you to overcome setbacks and achieve your goals. As an educator, author, and entrepreneur, I’ve come to appreciate that success isn’t just about talent or luck; it’s about the daily choices we make and the commitments we uphold. It’s about surrounding ourselves with mentors and communities that reinforce our values and push us to be our best selves. This is the reason why I only surround myself with people who want me to do better and they too are attempting to grow. It’s not about where you are in the moment, its about the daily habits you have created and following through with.

So, as I continue my journey, I invite you to reflect on your own life. What are the expectations you’ve set for yourself? Do you have the structure in place to support your aspirations? And most importantly, are you willing to grow, even in the face of adversity?
Remember, it’s never too late to redefine your path. Just as I’ve discovered in my middle aged years,, each day offers new opportunities for growth and improvement. Embrace the power of high expectations and structure, and watch as you unlock your full potential.

Thank you for joining me on this reflection. Together, let’s strive for excellence and create a future defined by our commitment to growth and integrity.
